Suspension of Administration - Flulaval® Tetra Vaccine Lot # KX9F7
Effective immediately, as a precautionary measure, the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness is advising to suspend administration of the Flulaval® Tetra vaccine lot number KX9F7 until further notice. Please keep the product under regular cold chain storage until further information is available. Mark the product as 'Not for Use' until further details are available.
This suspension of use is taking place following a report by New Brunswick Public Health of three Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) related to Flulaval® Tetra vaccine lot number KX9F7. All manifestations were neurological and in adults. New Brunswick Public Health subsequently advised providers in the province to suspend use of the lot number in question until further investigation.
No adverse events following immunization linked to this lot number have been reported in Nova Scotia to date.
Canada Vigilance (Health Canada) has been informed of the alert and has informed the manufacturer (GSK). Further analysis and follow up will be forthcoming.
